Summary

The epic conclusion to Amanda Foody and Christine Lynn Herman’s New York Times bestselling All of Us Villains duology that's The Hunger Games with magic。

“I feel like I should warn you: this is going to be absolutely brutal。”

For the first time in this ancient, bloodstained story, the tournament is breaking。 The boundaries between the city of Ilvernath and the arena have fallen。 Reporters swarm the historic battlegrounds。 A dead boy now lives again。 And a new champion has entered the fray, one who seeks to break the curse for good。。。 no matter how many lives are sacrificed in the process。

As the curse teeters closer and closer to collapse, the surviving champions each face a choice: dismantle the tournament piece by piece, or fight to the death as this story was always intended。

Long-held alliances will be severed。 Hearts will break。 Lives will end。 Because a tale as wicked as this one was never destined for happily ever after。

Thank you MacMillan audiobook for the review copy of All of Our Demise。 This and All of Us Villains are books outside of my usual reading genre but I love to change up my reads once in a while when I hear raves about a book; I enjoyed All of Us Villains and was waiting on this conclusion, which for me did not disappoint。 One, the narration was strong once again。 At times I dislike multiple narrators but this book was stronger for the two distinct but important voices。 I really think the producti Thank you MacMillan audiobook for the review copy of All of Our Demise。 This and All of Us Villains are books outside of my usual reading genre but I love to change up my reads once in a while when I hear raves about a book; I enjoyed All of Us Villains and was waiting on this conclusion, which for me did not disappoint。 One, the narration was strong once again。 At times I dislike multiple narrators but this book was stronger for the two distinct but important voices。 I really think the production and narration are excellent。Two, I thought the progression of the story worked well for me。 I can sense that some fans of the first book will be let down, that happens with hype and popular books and is also a fair reaction to this。。。 some will feel it is too long (it might be) or just not how they envisioned the continuation (fair, we all have our own world building at times) BUT for me this honored the progression of characters into next phases of identity and self understanding and awareness。 That worked for me even as I thought perhaps the story was a bit long (or needed to be a trilogy)。 The movement into queer identity inclusion mattered too。Three, I appreciated a change of pace read for me。 That might be why this worked for me, I tend to read contemporary adult fiction and thrillers and contemporary romance but I have a soft spot for YA and YA books with world building, interesting and intense stories, and that offer YA fans ways to think about the meaning and challenges of growing up into (destiny, into true self。。。 or away from past trauma)。 The focus on a curse/challenge and teens is notable because isn't adolescence/the movement to adulthood a challenge filled with wins and losses and seemingly unsurmountable challenges at times? 。。。more

All of Us Villains was just an amazing book so I was highly anticipating this book and was so incredibly happy to get the chance of an early review copy through Netgalley。As with most books, where you have a gap between, it took me a minute to get back into the world and to grips with all that was going on, partly as you are thrust right into things as we deal with the fallout that happened at the end of book one。It felt a bit chaotic at the early stages as so much was going on but it the events All of Us Villains was just an amazing book so I was highly anticipating this book and was so incredibly happy to get the chance of an early review copy through Netgalley。As with most books, where you have a gap between, it took me a minute to get back into the world and to grips with all that was going on, partly as you are thrust right into things as we deal with the fallout that happened at the end of book one。It felt a bit chaotic at the early stages as so much was going on but it the events in play were very high stakes so this was to be expected。 However once I got into the swing of things again, I was hooked。I'm not going to say much about the actual story as I don't want to spoil anything but this sequel definitely lived up to the high standard set by the first book。 As is the same in the first book, our group are at odds, and have been their whole life, due to the nature of the tournament。 They were raised by their families knowing it was a kill or be killed situation they were preparing for and how they acted in the tournament was a matter of family reputation。 How do you put that aside, if you even can, for the greater good?Every single character in this book is morally grey, and sometimes downright villainous, but when you are doing wrong for what could ultimately be a good reason, how wrong can it be。 How far is too far to go before you cross that point of no return。。。。I loved this series and will, at some point, go back and read them back to back as I think this will make the experience even better。Book 1 is available already and book 2 is out 01 September。 Enjoy! 。。。more

Fresh from the recent betrayals and a clock ticking down, alliances destroyed and new ones being made, the surviving champions must now figure out who they can trust and if they can trust each other long enough to make it out alive or die trying to be the last one standing。 Alistair Lowe: Still reeling from Isobel’s betrayal and death curse, at least he has his brother back and has avenged him by killing his family。 Alistair now is prepared to do whatever it takes to make sure his brother remain Fresh from the recent betrayals and a clock ticking down, alliances destroyed and new ones being made, the surviving champions must now figure out who they can trust and if they can trust each other long enough to make it out alive or die trying to be the last one standing。 Alistair Lowe: Still reeling from Isobel’s betrayal and death curse, at least he has his brother back and has avenged him by killing his family。 Alistair now is prepared to do whatever it takes to make sure his brother remains alive by the time the game ends and if that means destroying everyone, so be it。 There’s only one small problem, Isobel’s curse has it so the more he tries to harm and curse other champions the more it will slowly consume him before it finally kills him。 He’ll have to figure a way to kill the other contestants before his curse kills him and survive them as well。 What he never expected was possibly trusting one of them again。。。 and possibly falling for them。 Alistair will have to face difficult choices: who can he trust, who can he open himself up to again, and how far of a monster is he willing to be to protect his brother even if he possibly can’t even save him? Isobel Macaslan: After discovering the consequences of a spell her family gave her she is now official without a pulse, technically she is very much still alive but she is essentially just a husk of a person。 Isobel needs a way to fix this as well as make it out alive。 After betraying Alistair after he saved her she’s still feeling guilty, but she now finds herself in a new predicament, trapped by Reid she’ll have to find a way to expose the truth and save herself。 The question is, how manipulative and far is she willing to go to get what she wants, how many more people is she willing to betray to get what she wants? Isobel knows one thing: she’ll do anything to make it out alive。 But when the opportunity to save all the champions and break the curse appears。。。 is she willing to place her trust in others or will she betray them all again?Gavin Grieve: The one no one expected to live that has suddenly found his magic completely messed up。 Gavin is under his own curse, a life magic curse that is a clock counting down before he dies。 The only solution to his curse。。。 would be stealing the new life given to Alistair’s brother。。。 which means trying to make an alliance with the one enemy he has always dreamed about killing, about making an alliance with the one person he can’t help but obsess over yet the more Gavin gets to know Alistair the more he begins to realize that there is a boy underneath the mask of a monster and that he might be falling for him。 Will he have it in himself to betray Alistair and his brother or is Gavin finally going to go after something he wants, to finally have something more and to finally be more。 Briony Thorburn: She was always meant to be the hero and she is willing to do anything and hurt everyone to be said hero。。。 yet when she faces the reality of her decision and the cost of all her actions Briony is going to realize that sometimes being a hero means making the ultimate sacrifice。 Can Briony break the curse and save all the champions or will it be too late and all of them are bound to die in the end? With an even bigger plot on hand Briony will have to face even more difficult decisions and realizations and dark truths about what is really going are revealed。 Finley Blair: ( he’s alive) truthfully he didn’t really make all that much of a lasting impact in this book, he was more of a side character who was always with Briony。 Reid MacTavish: The owner of the MacTavish Cursemaker’s Shop who finds himself thrust into a predicament he never imagined。 Reid finds himself intertwined with Isobel and both of them are willing to do whatever it takes to get what they want。 When Reid’s secrets are revealed and he too finds himself intertwined in the games his goals have changed and he’ll have to find a way to make it out alive。Secrets, romance, survival, and magic all come together in the stunning conclusion to this series。 I have to say I was so happy with the Gavin and Alistair content we got, I was rooting for them the entire book and this book just gave me everything I could ask for in enemies to lovers romance。 *Thanks Tor Forge/ Tor Teen for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review* 。。。more

Different level。Thank you so much to Gollacnz for sending me an advanced readers copy of this in exchange for an unbiased review!! 。。。more

All of Us Villains left me wanting more。 But in the best way, in a “oh my god that was a wild ride I need to know what happens next” kind of way。 And wow did the sequel deliver! Some books benefit from a bit of time to digest in between, and while I did have time between the first reading of the first book and the subsequent reading of both in series, I think this story is best served back to back。 It was action packed and a bit of a rough ride at times, but I think that keeping track of all of the relics and locations and characters may be a bit much if you don't go straight from the first book to the second。The narrators were wonderful。 Sometimes I think they go overboard with having multiple cast members but in this books case, it was done perfectly。 The choices for the voices were perfect and the actors carried out their parts wonderfully。 I listen to a lot of audiobooks and while I usually think they do a good job, it is rare that there are multiple actors who all play their parts to a T。 Well done!!Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for providing me with an advanced review copy of this book for free in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

It just felt so anticlimactic to see her waste away but not to have anyone know why she died! The last couple of chapters, made me feel like I was missing something。 Overall the book was good, although I felt it lacked the excitement that the other book brought me。 The ending almost made a comeback but just fell flat with the fading off of the relationships the champions had with one another and Briony’s death。 It was worth reading although didn’t quite match the fire of our villainous characters and explosive plot that All of Us Villains provided。 。。。more

Loved this duology! After how All of Us Villains ended, I was extremely eager to start the next installment。 It lived up to my expectations。 The characters really make the story。 So much development from each of them; watching their journeys unfold in the context of a fast paced, crumbling, magickal tournament made it really hard to put this book down。

I found myself rooting for all the champions, including the surprise one and desperately wanted to see them win and destroy the tournament。 I was reading far into the night to find out what their various fates would be。 There were twists and turns a plenty in this book, and, just like the characters, we really don't know who the hell we can trust till the very end! I'm so pleased this book didn't go in the direction I thought it would after book one。。。I know some people were on the fence after 'All of us Villains', but you MUST give this book a chance。 I absolutely loved it and really want to read the first one again now! Thank you so much to the publishers and Netgalley for providing me with an ARC in return for an honest review。 。。。more

This epic conclusion to All of Us Villains had me on the edge of my seat, biting my lip, and anxiously listening to hear how this story would end。 The character growth and development of the plot in book two were probably one of my favourite parts of this entire series。 While the plot was unique, I thought the character growth made this entire book so much better than I ever expected it to be。 I typically stray away from two book series, this series was meant to be written in two books because t This epic conclusion to All of Us Villains had me on the edge of my seat, biting my lip, and anxiously listening to hear how this story would end。 The character growth and development of the plot in book two were probably one of my favourite parts of this entire series。 While the plot was unique, I thought the character growth made this entire book so much better than I ever expected it to be。 I typically stray away from two book series, this series was meant to be written in two books because the story was so beautifully crafted and portrayed, I think these characters needed a second book to conclude their stories and the choices they made。 Allistar's character arc actually had me wondering if everything I was listening to was actually happening, because the choices and the way the plot went utterly shocked me, in the best way possible。 Now saying this, I can for certain say that all of the characters in book two grew exponentially and actually grew into who I felt they were meant to be and what they were meant to do。 “In a different story, would we still have been enemies?” “Does it matter?” As a teen reader, this is a quote I probably would have skipped over, but reading this book as a young adult, this quote was EVERYTHING。 It showed the readers how much self reflection all of the characters had throughout the book and it felt like it showcased how no matter how hard you tried to change your story, some stories are set in stone。 No matter what the characters endings were, they were perfect for the character and I couldn't be happier with the way everything turned out for all the characters in this duology。 By far this may be one of the best books I have read in a really long time。 Amanda and Christine did an absolute amazing job wrapping this story up。 It'll be one of the books I continue to think about for weeks to come! A pretty solid sequel all in all! This sequel to All Of Us Villains picks up RIGHT where the first novel left off- so much so that I had to go back to the first book to reread and make sure I knew where everything was in the plot。 I have to say- I REALLY loved all of us Villains, and so I had pretty high hopes for the sequel。 I feel like this book was not QUITE as good as AOUV but still pretty good。 3。5 rounded up to 4I'll start with the pros: first off, the premise of the story stayed just as ca A pretty solid sequel all in all! This sequel to All Of Us Villains picks up RIGHT where the first novel left off- so much so that I had to go back to the first book to reread and make sure I knew where everything was in the plot。 I have to say- I REALLY loved all of us Villains, and so I had pretty high hopes for the sequel。 I feel like this book was not QUITE as good as AOUV but still pretty good。 3。5 rounded up to 4I'll start with the pros: first off, the premise of the story stayed just as captivating as ever。 I feel like the authors put a LOT of time into the worldbuilding in their planning sessions, which means things are REALLY fleshed out in the book。 The characters continue to be their multifaceted semi-unlikeable selves which is also great。 And I really liked seeing how everything would turn out!! Lots of violence and unlikeable things in the novel。 There was also (for some characters) a nice amount of "consequences"- minor spoiler here but don't expect all of the characters under the blood veil to come back out。What I didn't like: I really disliked how all of the characters ended up paired up by the end of the novel。 I just。。。don't see why there had to be multiple romance subplots in this? seemed pretty superfluous except for one of the storylines which was plot relevant。 Also- some of them were kind of uncomfy pairings tbh, I also felt like this book kind of succumbed to stephen king syndrome- the authors had a great plot idea but didn't really know how to end it? The last couple chapters where (spoiler) it felt like most of the characters got a HEA was just。。。out of place in my opinion。 I also feel like there was a REALLY drawn out lull in the middle of the book that could have been shorter, and then the ending came in like WHAM and everything finished up super fast。all in all, a pretty solid sequel, I just felt like the ending was kind of lacking。 。。。more

Now when I say I adored ‘All of us villains’, the first in this series, I really meant it! I grew to love all of the characters involved in the tournament, from Briony’s unwavering determination, to Gavin who had a point to prove, Finley who is just lovely, headstrong Isobel and Alistair, a boy chased by demons。 And Reid was an unexpected and interesting element, the curse maker who seemed to be more at the forefront than anyone would have expected…。The whole tournament literally had me on the edge of my seat。 The plot barrelled along at the perfect pace, having plenty to keep you going but a lot to keep you guessing and rolling with the twists and turns。 I loved it all! It took the reader to places I don’t think any of us were expecting but it was done masterfully。 I don’t think I’d be the only one saying so I wish (and hope) there are more books set within this world to come。 This book series worked perfectly as a duology but I think there is so much more potential for more to be set within this world as it’s just a fantastically created book-verse。 More please! All in all I was left very happy with its conclusion and could have kept reading forever。 What a brilliant series!Thank you to the authors and publisher for this book on NetGalley in return for my honest thoughts and review。 。。。more

Curses are flying, family stories are being unraveled, and no one really knows what will happen IF the tournament curse is broken。As with ALL OF US VILLAINS。。。 while it's great to get the story from so many points of view, it is also a lot to keep track of。 I wish the audiobooks had a narrator for each character because at times I forgot which POV was talking and it's easy to get confused。 This a satisfying conclusion to this duology though and I liked the character arcs that happened (I'm refraining from naming names to avoid spoilers)。 I really enjoyed the mystery of how to return each family relic to the tournament was solved and how the solutions are wrapped up in the stories each family grew up hearing。Billie Fulford-Brown and Raphael Corkhill do a good job with the audiobook performance, I just wish there were more narrators to help separate each POV out more。 。。。more

Yes。 Yes I am。)That said, I flew through this because I。 HAD。 TO。 KNOW。 And while I can't say I LOVE the ending, I appreciate how everything came together at the end, and I appreciated all the falling action that helped us see what might lay ahead for our survivors。 。。。more

Thank you to Macmillan Audio and Netgalley for sending me an early copy of this audiobook! This book was still such high stakes and had twists around every corner。 I adored that this book was able to keep me engaged for so long。 I never felt like there was a lot of down time or slow time, but I also didn't feel bombarded with action。 I also love how easy to follow it is even with all the different POVs。 I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to keep up, especially with the audiobook, but I didn't have any difficulty and I attribute that to the writing! The characters are so fleshed out in this book。 They each have such a unique story (even if a couple follow typical stereotypes i。e。 villain), and they each confront their own stories and weaknesses therein throughout this book。 It was refreshing to watch them all come to terms with who they are *and* who they wanted to be and really use those things to their advantage。 Not to mention that the story was wrapped up perfectly and everything felt just right in its proper place。 And the romance!! It was so adorable and added to the stakes of everything。 I was worried that it would feel forced but I found myself super invested in all the relationships really quickly。 Even the non-romantic relationships held so much substance and so much to attach to。 If you're a fantasy fan, definitely check out this duo because it satisfied absolutely everything I needed in life! 。。。more

In the final book of the duology, the champions continue to look for a way to bring the entire tournament down。 For their sakes and the future generations。 There’s back stabbing, double crossing, doubt, trust and the overall theme of questioning what makes a person a villain versus a victim。

I loved seeing more of the champions' families and how their influence affected them—especially for some lesser-known families like the Grieves。Overall, a great conclusion to this magical, Hunger Games-style emotional rollercoaster of a book which I enjoyed。 Though I must warn you that the ending was bittersweet, keep a few tissues handy just in case。 。。。more
